You get what you pay for
Dattatec has been ok for testing sites. I have a few sites hosted with them because I got them at a very special discount price. Otherwise, the USD10.80 per year thay charge on their basic plan, could probably be better spent somewhere else.
Their uptime is not good at all. I could find my sites offline almost on a daily basis; and they make changes on the servers without letting anyone know, and sometimes my sites broke because of this.
The speed is almost never good, as they probably oversell their servers a lot. When you are lucky to get on a new server, your site might work fast for a few weeks.
One possitive aspect of them though is customer support. Maybe they aren't the most knowledgeable staff I've dealt with, but they always helped me quite quickly. Better than I expected, I must say.
I'm giving it a bit better rating only because they are so cheap, and you can only expect this quality of service for this price. |
