A host that values its customers and offers great deals
I signed up for an anniversary promotion which gave me the typically $100+ package for just less than $10 for a year plus includes a free domain name. The control panel isn't the greatest but you eventually get used to the layout. There are some great one click installs, such as Wordpress and PHPBB. The best thing about Dreamhost is that they have awesome customer service. I've used hosts before that take forever to reply back and do not even really read your question, offering just generic responses. The emails from Dreamhost have a "personal touch" and I've always heard back from them in around 24 hrs. Another awesome thing about them is their rewards/affiliates program. You get paid for referring them to your friends! Lastly, the bottomline package I signed up for still gave me a HUGE amount of webspace and bandwidth -- way more than I needed but at least I didn't have to worry about going over the limit. All in all, A+! |

Great initial deal, but no deals for renewals.
I'll start by saying that I am happy with Dreamhost. They offer good customer service and respond promptly. They also have a great knowledge based FAQ section that comes in very handy for beginners as well as novices.
My only beef is that they offer an extremely attractive package price to host your domain initially, but when it comes to renewing your hosting there are no deals to be had. Of course, this is the way of business I suppose, but as a customer I'd like to see some kind of loyalty bonus.
They also provide reward points for referrals and such which may help some people.
My overall rating of this host is 9/10 and I would refer this host to others. |

Dreamhost is slow but pretty cheap price
I find that Dreamhost's Squirrel mail is rather slow. And the panel for administration is also rather slow. It takes forever to create like 10 e-mail accounts.
However, the hosting for the webpages is reasonably fast.
I find the price very cheap especially with their < US$10 deals for the 1st year's worth of hosting and registration.
Renewing is pretty good at CDN$120. Normally they give you a $40 discount if you wait till the last 7 days before renewing.
I would recommend it to ppl that require about 20GB storage and 1000GB bandwidth a month. |

You get alot more then what you pay for!
I've been hosted with DreamHost for a year now (exactly a year in 3 days) and the overall statisfaction is great. Although it sucks that there is no cpanel or ensim, their Web panel is a pretty useful tool.
Dislikes about stats on their html tool is that the bandwidth, diskspace and other stats take a day to update so you dont know if your going over or not. They do have limiting tools implemented, but it stops the site when it thinks its going to go over a certain space or bandwidth.
Either way, their a good host and I will be renewing one of my sites I have hosted with them.
I'm at 21gigs of space and 1100gigs of bandwidth, it was their gift and weekly the space and bandwidth increase by a certain amount. |

Great hosting for a geat price.
I created a domain at dreamhost a year ago. I found a promo code online that allowed me to get a free domain name plus a year of hosting for about $10 USD. Paid using paypal and the site was up within 2 hours. Joined the most basic plan, which is more than enough since I was just using it to host files so I can download from school. Download speeds were pretty good, I got about 200k/sec at home and around 100kb/sec at the school. This is really good since I usually only got about 40kb/sec at the school.
There was only one time I can remember in which the site was down. It was up and running again in a day, and never happened again. I never had to use customer support, so I am basing the rating solely on how fast they set up my domain. I got 2GB of webspace and 120GB of bandwidth, which is pretty crazy considering it was 10 bucks for the whole year.
I recommend this host to everyone because this is one of the cheapest I have ever seen reliable hosting. |

Positive look up!
I recently bought a Dreamhost account and for the money it is the best hosting service I have used to date. I have looked at other hosting companies such as Bluehost but are not very generous with space or features. One of the best things I noticed about Dreamhost is that they add additonal features such as RubyonRails support regularly based upon user requests.
Another great feature that Dreamhost has and in fact I think is the most important feature is SSH access. I found shell access to the most important festure for webhosting because a large number of web applications require shell commands to be ran for setting up accounts. I was using another company, which had shell access for a short period but soon after removed it because people were screwing with the machine. On the other hand, Dreamhost has had shell access for a very long time and has not had any signigicant problems the best of my knowledge via security of any form.
One thing that does bother me a little bit is that instead of actions taking place immediatly on the server, actions such as adding a user and etc occur in batch about every 5-10 minutes. So, if you are very figity with the mouse you might get annoyed. |

Dreamhost is a must when it comes to hosting bandwidth.
Dreamhost has been a very decent webhost for my 3+ months I've been with them. They have constant promotions and deals which will amaze everyone. Features are good and offers are great. The servers speed is at the average due to many other sites hosted on their shared servers. But the price of less then $8/month for the features you get is unbeatable. I have not tried their support yet but I bet it's quick and I have not received any downtime yet also. Dreamhost tries to maintain their servers as best as they can to keep your site running fast and that's what I like about them. |

Oversold Space and Bandwidth?
I looked at Dreamhost, and saw some packages that were good deals, so I bought one and setup for my website. But there was a big setup fee of 50 bucks, which threw me off and after being hosted with them for a while, I realized there was no way they could give me all that space and bandwidth without overselling 4 times over. With that I quit and decided to move to another host. |

Very good.
I like Dreamhost and i was with them for 1.5 months. They have one of the best Customer support, with the great uptime. I left because i bought myself a reseller.

A great place to host!
I have been costed in dreamhost.com for about 6 month now.
The service its really good. good support and good speed. The only thing that i think they have to improve is the control panel.
They dont have cpanel or other similar soft. They have their own control panel that its not as intuitive as most of us would like. If you are used to cpanel, you will find it a bit difficult to undestan in the begining.
The best of the service is what they offer.
I have a plan for 60gb disk and 1TB transfer + a free .com domain. Also can be set up as shared hosting and can host unlimited domains.
There are some "one click installs" that can help newbies installing some common scripts such as wordpress or PHPBB forums.
The overall its very good. If you need a good host disk and good transfer, dreamhost its your choice |
