Dreamhost Invasion of Privacy
DreamHost's poor customer service has led to a serious privacy invasion. When my client attempted to sign up for an account, the transaction hung halfway through. When customer service (which can only be reached by tedious email exchanges) "fixed" the problem, the pay by credit card option was no longer available. The customer service representative insisted that we use Google Payments. I proceeded, and then my client realized his financial information is now in the Google system. The worst possible scenario then came true. Instead of completing the transaction, Google called my client's bank for "preapproval". This was not to complete the transaction (which was never completed), but to gather information for Google's marketing. My client is furious, reviewing everyone's privacy policy, and is looking into ways to bring this problem up at the political, and possibly the legal, level.
Throughout this whole situation, Dreamhost has been nothing but pig-headed. Every customer service representative ignores the case history and either refers us back to Google Payments or says patronizing things like we could have paid with the original credit card system. I offered them a solution where I quietly pay for the account using Google transactions, and they won't even let me help bail them out!!!
I will never refer another client to dreamhost. Right now I'm looking for the best place to air this complaint publicly in as many places as possible. People have to know that when Dreamhost pushes people into using Google Payments, Google then has their financial information to aggregate and deploy for their own purposes.
Addendum: A Dreamhost customer service representative hurled abuse at me on their forum, and then slipped up and used his forum ID in an email with the customer service issue header on it. |

They need to rename their company to NightmareHost.com
Reliability is very very low. They have strict CPU limitations (can't run anything over 30 seconds) which renders the service useless. Also they over-subscribe each machine, where the load is consistently 20-100 and ssh response time is unbearably slow. Last month it was down for several days, and we always get at least a few reboots a day. This definitely has the best values, if you don't need to use their services. |

Dreamhost Sucks
Dreamhost may be ok for personal use, but it is far too unreliable for business use. Their servers, their routers constantly go down in the middle of the business day. So we had to get a third party web host monitoring service and send Dreamhost an email when it went down! Their response was usually like "oh we didn't even notice it was down"! We had a better idea of our site uptime than they did.
Support is bad. There's no number to call and although they have an option where you can for support to call you back (up to 5 a month), they rarely actually call back and when they do, the people on the phone have no power to do anything to correct problems in the long term. It's cheap and you get what you pay for. They received an "F" from the California Better Business Bureau.

Dreamhost, Great Host but has its flaws.
downtime is the biggest issue with dreamhost but its not that bad. I've only had two major problems and have been hosted for three months now. The Custemer service is great, me being lazy will ask them to set me up a phpbb board and they will do it. they made there own cpanel and its great. TONZ TONZ of features and its a linux server. the only flaw is it takes awhile for the changes to take place
ie-
5 min for a sql database
10 min for a one click install
15 min for a new email address
but its not that bad...
the price value is great I love it and overall their pretty well off. |

I really recommend DreamHost
I have been using the $7.95 p/month hosting account now for just under 2 months and I have to say, they are superb. I can't really comment on the customer support because I haven't had any problems yet, but the server side of things are 10/10 - they are fast and reliable. The prices are just right too.
Highly recommended. |

Awesome web host!
I have been using this web host for almost 8 months and I am very pleased that I have an account with DreamHost. The server speed is great, the customer support is superb, it is reliable, and most importantly, the price value is awesome. It is totally worth the price.
I totally recommend DreamHost to everyone looking for a web host. |

fantastic service, worth the money
I originally signed up with DreamHost on their monthly plan at $9.95. I was pleased with the host and after 2 months I signed up for their 2-year hosting plan at $7.95. While their storage space may not be as big as my last host, their monthly bandwidth is awesome at 1 terabyte/month. I primarily use perl/mysql, which is included along with some other linux goodies. Customer support is quick and helpful aswell. Although I haven't had any major problems with my account, so I haven't had much need for customer service yet. Server is always up and is always fast. Definately worth the extra money. |

Worth every cent!
I'm proud to say I'm hosted by Dreamhost, and so far, I'm loving their service! Their plans are fantastic and just recently they upgraded their space and bandwidth allotments so you could say I won't be worrying about those things anymore. They also allow people to host as many domains as you want, which is perfect for people with lots of domains and sites like me. Their support is okay, they reply very fast to downtime problems, although it could take a while for other questions. But their hosting features are really very nice, and I definitely recommend them. |

The price is good, but service is pretty bad. My suggestion if you buy this, get a coupon. I paid 30$ for a whole year. Bad control panel!
I guess if you want a cheap site that works 90% go with this. |

Lots of server downtime.
While with this host I seemed to get alot of downtime on my site, alot of stuff usually didn't work. The staff would always try and make cover up storys as well. You do get ALOT for your money though, and if you can deal with downtime then this is a good host for you. |

Most amazing customer support ever
This host is amazing - it truly holds up its name as Dreamhost. It had an initial deal of one year for $7.77, and after than it's something like $120 a year. I never thought I would stay with them after the year, but I definitely plan to now.
Since I've been there the amount of space and bandwith they give to me has more than quadrupled - for no particular reason.
Highly recommended - so many features, no complaints. |

Best host ever seen!
Dreamhost is not one of the best host in the world. Because it is the number one host in the world. I like its promotion code offers. By a promotion code they can give you $97 off.
They are offering 40GB space and 1Tb Bandwidth. I have not seen anyone offering such a great package in such a little money. ($23/year). |

Excellent hosting, Dreamhost by far the best
I am very happy with my account at dream host. I signed up for their 777 promotion and got a whole year of host for less then ten dollars. this include 1TB of transfer and 20GB space. So far i've been using my sapce for personal reasons, school and home. But i will eventually put togther a great website and i'm sure dreamhost will support me :) |
